I have copied the file to my /usr/share/emesene/plugins_base/
and I can't update my Nickname yet.

Is there another way to install it and fix this problem?

The post that says that the newest version of this plugin fixes a nick problem is from may 2008, the latest version in the first post is actually really old and it wont fix the problem.

We have to wait until Microsoft reverts whatever they have done on their servers or find a way to get the nick in a different way like WLM09 do.

We can only wait for now unfortunately until any of those things happen.

Plugin not working anymore? Nick isn't changed anymore and ''Userpanel -> Custom status'' opens the dialog, but won't change nick neither status.

Braytac already reported som problems with gtk 2.19 selecting text from the conversation window. On Windows, the latest stable release of gtk is 2.18.7, I can't test/fix with 2.18.8, I can not install it Tongue.

Can someone using linux look into this?

Compiled 2.20 and same thing, so it's not a gtk bug, it's a feature Grin

It works ok here on windows with gtk 2.20... I don't know what to tell you, I'll try on a virtual machine with lucid

EDIT: no problems also on a Lucid Lynx beta2 virtual machine, can you try a live Lucid Lynx? if it works on the live mode, you must have some problem with your system

EDIT: what OS are you using? I can try that OS on a virtual machine

I don't know what iso should I download to have a simple LiveCD (I have downloaded 2 different versions and all I got is a command prompt and I don't know how to install anything). Can you give me some link to a desktop live cd for arch linux? Tongue

But as I tell you, it works on Ubuntu Lucid and Windows with gtk2.20, so I guess it's some problem on your system or arch's gtk package. Can you try on an arch's live cd?

You have to install your own DE along with X in Arch :p There is a project called Chakra and they release a arch-based livecd with KDE, but I don't know any with Gnome. I'll see if arch's bugtracker gives me any clue..
