Hello c10ud!

I've noticed that you tend to release builds for Ubuntu 32-bit, which is perfectly fine. The Jaunty repositories also only contain deadbeef, since that's the stable release.

Have you considered hosting your own PPA in Launchpad so that emesene users can automatically upgrade to the newest version through apt? It would be much easier than checking here periodically for updates...

Also, I've noticed that Emesene hosts its own bug tracking system. It would put less strain on your servers to use Launchpad, since it's used for almost all packages in Ubuntu.

Personally, I've noticed that the Emesene trac system is very buggy. I haven't been able to add bugs because of some glitch in the system, and it doesn't seem well maintained. Launchpad would be a fresh, professional start Smiley

I've hosted emesene on PPA from this trunk http://emesene.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/emesene/trunk/emesene/

But I'm not affiliated in any way with emesene devs. It was done for fun and practise.

The forum post about that is located here: http://forum.emesene.org/index.php/topic,1967.0.html

For emesene PPA add ppa:bjfs/ppa to your system's Software Sources or manually add:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bjfs/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bjfs/ppa/ubuntu karmic main

Into /etc/apt/sources.list for karmic (or use jaunty).

i'm too lazy for mantaining a ppa, but you're free to do it and users will be glad Smiley

actually a bugtracker is useless if noone fixes bugs Smiley

Okay. I've done an emesene package from the "crazy" branch off the bzr. For Ubuntu, of course.

The link to my repo is here: https://launchpad.net/~bjfs/+archive/ppa

Probably it won't be of use to anyone, but I'm getting the hang of it Tongue

And thanks to dirtty haxxor (dx, or someone like that) for providing a debian/ template from the one of zillion emesene branches Wink

Here's a compiled x64 libmimic.so...can you build a .deb using it to be added to PPA?

Okay, so there are two issues:

1. Update my PPA package to revision no. 1333
2. Add binary PPA package with  libmimic.so

ad. 1
It will be ready in 24 hours. I will change the versioning scheme so if dpkg/apt-get/aptitude/synaptric/dselect/whatever will protest that my new package is older than older emesene packages then apt-get remove emesene and apt-get install emesene Tongue

ad. 2
If I figure that out it'll be done Grin Using mere i386 here Grin Don't know what's that libmimic.so for... emesene ? Would emesene need suggestion about libmimic package ? Also, there's http://packages.debian.org/experimental/libmimic0 package under Debian. Many architectures. Is that it ?

Okay, here's the brand new version (1.4+r1333~ppa2).

WARNING: This will not automatically update from the previous version (bzr20090509-bjfs.ppa2) !

FIX: Do these in command-line:

Code:
wtf@jaunty:~$ sudo apt-get update
wtf@jaunty:~$ sudo apt-get remove emesene
wtf@jaunty:~$ sudo apt-get install emesene

Have fun!

My PPA: https://launchpad.net/~bjfs/+archive/ppa

To import my PPA OpenPGP key type this in the console:

Code:
wtf@jaunty:~$ sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 0x0cc1223ee2314809

In case of fire MSN me at bjfs@windowslive.com ; not many friends on that network Tongue
