emesene 1.5.1 - "awesome" bugfix edition has been released!
So, we found some bugs and we fixed them, we hope you'll like this new version. We also added some new stuff (but don't tell anyone!) and it's still awesome, you can take a look in here.

Bugs fixed/ New features:

    * Smoother and bugfree login (and reconnect)
    * Removed deprecated statuses (brb, lunch, phone) since WLM doesn't use them anymore
    * Last timestamp in status bar (optional)
    * Even more layout options and a new theme (gnome-colors)
    * Fixed focus problems in conversations
    * Fixed problems with notifications
    * Fixed sending message errors when talking to WLM users
    * Fixed problems managing contacts (thanks pablo, and for those wandering: unfortunately we don't support Federated Contacts)
    * Fixed broken plugins, (re)added a bit more (Facebook, Encrypt, mail checkers, dbus, old notifications: thank their authors!)
    * Various fixes here and there
    * Tons of new languages supported

The fun doesn't stop here, you can check the Community for further informations or cooperate with the emesene team in any way you can:

    * New features
    * Translations
    * Plugins
    * Bug reports/fixes
    * Themes
    * Support to other users
    * Spreading the word

Perhaps is not a Bug, but I don't like it: when you log in, notifications about all the contacts that are already online appears telling you that they are online.

Also, when you are away for a few minutes it does not set your status to idle anymore...

The notifications bug appears if you have a big userlist, search the forum, Cloud posted a workaround to start the notification plugin later.

About idle status, the plugin that did that was removed (it was unmanteined and only worked in gnome using screensavers). Today I was doing a new IdlePlugin that should work on any platform and screensaver independent, tomorrow I'll upload this after some test in kde/xfce and windows just to be sure. I'll upload it now, look here >> http://forum.emesene.org/index.php/topic,2453.msg16745.html#msg16745

Thanks! I "fixed" them, altough I do not like emesene to get idle not considering the desktop activity.

Look for it... I installed emesene from there.

Anyway, I can't use the webcam because of libmimic. I try with: "sudo python setup.py build_ext -i" but I doesn't found setup.py in emesene folder so it can be installed.

¿Any solution?

the debian/ubuntu packager then messed up the stuff, you should file a bug for that, because the lib should come preinstalled!

and how do i do that?

I try doing this:
http://forum.emesene.org/index.php/topic,1002.msg7478.html#msg7478
Quote
- on Debian/Ubuntu: sudo apt-get install build-essential python2.5-dev (other distro's should have similar packages, you have to install gcc and python header files)
- checkout or update emesene trunk from SVN
- cd to emesene directory
- python setup.py build
- sudo python setup.py install
- ./emesene

But the problem is that setup.py doesn't exists in usr/share/emesene directory. (i'm using emesene1.5.1 from the software center of Karmic 9.10)

It`s not that I want to be annoying, but...I`ve been using Karmic`s emesene since Karmic beta.

I`ve made 2 post saying that "a lot of people is having problem with libmimic even me...it says that I don`t have libmimic"
A lot of people said that I had to install it manually...I said that I used to use the bjfs`s karmic and I didn`t have to do that..

After all, nobody listened to me. I own a blog here in Brasil where I told people to use emesene that it`s supporting webcam now. Everyone that tried to uses webcam came to say to me "emesene still sucks..webcam is buggy...still prefer aMSN"

ok...calming down!
Sorry for the words...I just wanted to say all that!
Hope we can find a solution for it!
Anything I can do to help, just say!

problem is that if packagers aren't notified about this problem, we have no control on distros Cheesy
